This allows the engine to rev faster and be far more responsive during throttle transitions. The strength of the chromoly also ensures long life of the friction face and that it can withstand high power without failure. It also utilizes a flywheel bolt lock ring which ensures that flywheel bolts won't back out after they're torqued. This larger disc provides greater surface area for the clutch to grab with, creating a higher torque holding capability.
