🔊 Exhaust System Overviews
AWE Tuning – Track & Touring
- Track: Loud, raw tone. Deletes the rear resonator for max sound output. You will hear more turbo and exhaust note, but it can drone at highway speeds.
- Touring: Uses AWE's 180 Technology® to cancel drone, offering a balanced and refined tone perfect for daily drivers.
- Full 3" catback with integrated 3" front pipe. Dyno-proven gains of up to 14 HP and 13 ft-lbs at the wheels on a stock downpipe.

HKS Legamax Premium
- Japanese engineering with a valveless, straight-through design that reduces exhaust pressure by 30% compared to stock.
- Sound is clean, deep, and JDM-refined — perfect for daily street use without excess volume.
- Includes actuator to prevent error codes from the valveless design. This is HKS's quieter, more refined option — see Hi-Power below for the louder sibling.
- View on SBX Performance
HKS Hi-Power
- The louder, more aggressive sibling to the Legamax. HKS turned up the volume here — 13 dB louder than stock and 9 dB louder than the Legamax Sports.
- Valveless design with a bullet-shaped silencer that pushes both bass and treble frequencies hard. The result is a full-range, emotionally charged exhaust note that builds with RPM — the harder you push, the better it sounds.
- 75mm main pipe diameter with full straight-through construction. Same 30% exhaust pressure reduction as the Legamax. Power gains above stock from 5,000–6,000 RPM with up to 7.5 Nm torque increase around 3,000 RPM.
- 119mm titanium tips with HKS logo. Includes actuator kit to avoid CEL from the valveless setup.
- Sound level: 93 dB (stock is 80 dB). Not neighborhood-friendly at 6AM, but not quite Tomei territory either. A solid middle ground for enthusiasts who want presence without being antisocial.

Remark Cat-Back – Race & Touring
- Race: Raw, aggressive tone with straight-through piping. Surprisingly not as loud as expected — sporty but liveable.
- Touring: Comes with large mufflers for a smoother and deeper sound that's daily-drivable, refined, and still sporty.
- Also available in a Triple Tip configuration and a full Titanium catback with SUS304 front pipe for those who want the ultimate Remark setup.

Invidia R400
- 3" mandrel-bent stainless piping with quad titanium tips.
- Deep, punchy tone that's become synonymous with the Civic Type R platform. Some users report more drone than Touring-type systems (e.g., AWE Touring), but the sound under wide-open throttle is hard to beat.
- Valved design retains factory valve operation via the stock actuator. Great fitment and quality welds throughout.

Invidia Q300
- The R400's quieter, more refined sibling. Engineered to be noticeably quieter than both the R400 and N1 while still maintaining high exhaust flow for real performance gains.
- Specially tuned muffler baffles and resonators deliver a rich, deep, sporty note without introducing drone or excessive cabin volume. Think of it as the "mature enthusiast" Invidia option.
- Same quality 1.5mm thick 304 stainless steel construction with minimal bends for unobstructed exhaust flow. Triple 101mm straight-cut tips available in titanium or black finishes.
- If you love Invidia's fitment and value but your commute is more than 20 minutes, this is probably your pick over the R400.

Fujitsubo Authorize RM+C
- Iconic Japanese brand known for its quality welds and quiet-but-capable race tone.
- Full titanium construction with carbon fiber 118mm tips. The unique muffler chambers give it a great sound with the valve closed and a true scream when it's open.
- A refined system with clean looks, low drone, and balanced powerband.

27WON Valved Exhaust
- The biggest pipe on the market — 80mm (3.125") piping maintained all the way through to the tips. No restriction, no step-downs to mate with a smaller front pipe. This is a true full-diameter system.
- Available as a catback or full turboback. 27WON is the only brand currently offering a complete turbo-to-tip exhaust solution for the FL5.
- Valved design integrates with factory drive modes. Comes in non-resonated (recommended for stock downpipe) and resonated (recommended if you're running or planning an aftermarket downpipe).
- Thick 3-bolt flanges at every connection point, full hardware kit included. Build quality is excellent — owners consistently praise the fit, finish, and weld quality.
Borla ATAK
- T-304 stainless steel construction with Borla's ATAK sound level — aggressive and head-turning without the drone.
- Valved design retains factory valve operation with an included wiring harness extender. Features Borla's Polyphonic Harmonizer Technology — multiple pipes of different diameters and lengths inside the muffler create layered exhaust notes that harmonize for a clean, full-bodied sound.
- Triple tip layout with dual 4" outer tips and center 4.5" tip. Available in polished, ceramic black, and carbon fiber finishes.
- Backed by Borla's Million-Mile Warranty — they don't mess around with their coverage.

Remus Valved Exhaust
- Austrian-engineered exhaust with a strong reputation from the FK8 generation. Remus was widely considered the best all-around exhaust for the FK8, and the FL5 version carries that DNA forward.
- 76mm piping (up from the stock 60mm) with a valved design that uses the original actuator via the vehicle's onboard electronics — no aftermarket controllers needed, no vehicle modifications required. Your factory dash controls and drive modes work exactly as intended.
- Multiple tip options including stainless steel, brushed titanium, black titanium, and carbon fiber with titanium internals. The tip selection alone makes this one of the most customizable systems on the market.
- EU-homologated for street-legal use in Europe — one of the only FL5 exhausts that carries official certification for passing European technical inspections. That speaks to the engineering quality.
- Sound profile sits in the sweet spot: deep and sonorous under cruise, assertive under load, without the drone that plagues more aggressive setups.

Armytrix Valvetronic
- Full valvetronic system with a twist — Armytrix's "Throttle Pedal Sensor and Engine RPM Signal Auto Functions" automatically open and close the exhaust valves based on RPM range and throttle position. You can also customize the auto-mode behavior via their Bluetooth app.
- Over 60% lighter than the stock exhaust. T304 stainless steel with precision TIG hand-welding throughout.
- With valves closed, the exhaust stays quiet and maintains backpressure for strong low-RPM torque. Valves open? It's essentially straight pipe — the loudest sound you'll get from a valved system.
- This is the system for the tech-forward enthusiast who wants full granular control over their exhaust behavior. Multiple tip finishes available.

Fi Exhaust (Frequency Intelligent)
- Valvetronic catback built from high-grade T304 stainless steel. The valve system routes exhaust through the muffler when closed for a low-profile, comfortable daily drive — and bypasses it entirely when open for an intense, sporty soundtrack.
- Can integrate with the factory sport button, drive modes, or their optional Fi Pro remote control for manual valve switching.
- Fi claims 5–10% HP increase on a full catless system (downpipe + catback). Individually designed muffler internals are specific to the FL5 for a tuned, vehicle-specific sound profile.
- Popular in the wider Euro/JDM car scene. Less common on FL5s, which makes it a standout at meets.
MXP Comp RS
- 3" stainless steel piping with mandrel bends and a functional exhaust valve at the OEM location.
- The standout feature here is the Helmholtz resonator — a purpose-built chamber designed specifically to kill highway drone. If you've ever owned an exhaust that sounded amazing in a parking garage but made you want to rip it off on hour two of a road trip, this is MXP's answer to that problem.
- Dual 110mm tips with a clean rear profile. Community feedback is overwhelmingly positive — daily-friendly tone without sacrificing the WOT experience.
- Front pipe sold separately.

MBRP Street & Pro Series
- MBRP has been a dominant name in the truck and off-road exhaust world for years, and their move into the Honda space brings that same mandrel-bent, dyno-tested approach to the FL5.
- 3" mandrel-bent catback available in Street (moderate, daily-friendly) and Pro Series (louder, carbon fiber tips) configurations.
- Solid value proposition — quality construction without the JDM import premium. A good option for owners who want improved sound and flow without breaking the bank.

J's Racing ZX Full Titanium Exhaust
- This is the halo piece. Full titanium alloy construction with 1mm wall thickness throughout — the entire system weighs just 10.5 kg. That is absurdly light.
- 76.3mm center pipe flowing into dual 60.5mm outlets with J's Racing's signature dual 120mm "Dolphin Tail" burnt titanium tips. The rear view alone justifies the price for some people.
- Fully straight-through, valveless design engineered for rapid boost build-up and sustained top-end power. Each exhaust is handmade by skilled craftsmen using precision circular-cut welding — you can see and feel the quality in the welds.
- Sound profile: dry, aggressive titanium tone. Think race car. This is not a system designed for quiet mornings. It's a system designed to win time attack events and make grown adults stare at your car in a parking lot.
- Includes stock actuator relocation kit to avoid CEL. ECU tuning recommended for optimal results.
- ⚠️ Special order item — approximately 3-month ETA from order date.
- Price: $8,834

J's Racing X304 Stainless Exhaust 70RS
- J's Racing's more accessible option — and "accessible" is relative when we're talking about J's Racing. 1.5mm thick stainless steel construction that's actually lighter than the OEM exhaust, with titanium alloy tips.
- 75mm center pipe to dual 60.5mm outlets with the same signature 120mm Dolphin Tail tips. Fully straight-through, single main silencer design for aggressive exhaust flow.
- J's Racing claims approximately 7 PS (roughly 7 HP) increase with this system. Quick boost pressure buildup with extended power at higher RPMs.
- Sound: piercing high-pitch exhaust note from the 2.0L turbo. J's Racing recommends their HYPER-ECU for the full experience, but the system performs well on its own.
- Valveless design with stock actuator relocation kit included.
- If the ZX Titanium is the race car dream, the X304 is the enthusiast-grade reality — same J's Racing DNA, same Dolphin Tails, same handcrafted quality, at roughly half the price.
- Price: $3,917

Cobra Sport – Valved Turbo-Back, Cat-Back & Front Flex-Back
- UK-engineered exhaust brand with a full lineup for the FL5 — they offer more configuration options than almost anyone else on the market. You can go turbo-back, cat/GPF-back, or front flex-back, and each comes in non-resonated valved form.
- All systems use 3" (76.2mm) pipework with the factory valve retained. When you switch drive modes (Eco to R mode, etc.), the exhaust tone adjusts just like stock — no third-party controllers needed. Includes a redesigned heat shield to replace the factory item that doesn't clear the larger piping.
- Turbo-back option is available with either a 200-cell high-flow sports cat (4"/101.6mm reducing to 3") or de-cat configuration. Multiple tip choices: 4" polished stainless, ceramic black coated, or carbon fibre.
- Cat/GPF-Back sound data: 65.6 dB at idle (+8.6 dB over stock), 88 dB at 3,500 RPM (+16.7 dB). Weight savings of 2.7 kg over stock.
- Front Flex-Back sound data: 66.6 dB at idle (+9.6 dB over stock), 87.9 dB at 3,500 RPM (+16.6 dB). Weight savings of 1.35 kg.
- Cobra is one of the few brands that publishes actual dB measurements and weight comparisons — that transparency is appreciated. The turbo-back with sports cat is a strong option for owners who want the full system upgrade without going fully catless.
- Note: The turbo-back and sports cat options remove the PPF (Petrol Particulate Filter) and will require ECU tuning at time of fitment.

Hybrid Racing Formula Exhaust
- Full 304 stainless steel valved catback at $1,799.99 — strong value for a valved system with this much flexibility built in.
- The standout feature: dual valve control options. The system integrates with the factory exhaust valve through Hondata software using a custom-designed bracket and spring — so if you're already running Hondata, you get seamless ECU-controlled valve operation. No Hondata? No problem — it also ships with two wireless remote key fobs for manual open/close control on the fly.
- Includes both an OEM downpipe front pipe connection AND an aftermarket downpipe front pipe connection in the box. That means whether you're on the stock downpipe or running an aftermarket unit, you're covered out of the box with no adapters to source separately.
- Adjustable muffler hangers for precise alignment. Dual exhaust tip configurations available in gloss black, polished stainless, or burnt titanium finishes. Retains the factory-style valence for a clean OEM+ look.
- Hybrid Racing has been in the Honda game for years — they're known for their shifter components and engine swap parts, and this exhaust brings that same precision-engineering approach to the FL5 platform.

A Note on J's Racing: If you know, you know. J's Racing has been building motorsport-grade Honda parts in Japan for decades. Their exhausts are handcrafted, not mass-produced. The lead times reflect that — these are made-to-order pieces with real craftsmanship behind them. The Dolphin Tail tips are iconic in the JDM scene, and seeing them on an FL5 instantly signals a build with taste.

Real Talk: Titanium systems sound wild on Reels and TikTok, but daily life is another story. If you're up at 6AM and your garage is below the bedroom, you might want a quieter option. Pick something that works for your life — not just your likes.
Also — valved systems have come a long way. If you're torn between loud and quiet, a quality valved exhaust might be the move. You get the best of both worlds without swapping systems every six months like some of us have definitely not done.
On Drone: This is the #1 complaint we hear from owners who go aggressive on their first exhaust. Drone is that low-frequency hum that vibrates your cabin at highway cruise RPMs — usually around 2,500–3,500 RPM in the FL5. Systems with resonators, Helmholtz chambers (MXP), or active valve technology handle this best. If your daily involves any highway time, factor drone into your decision. A system that sounds incredible in a parking garage pull can be miserable at mile 200 of a road trip.
