As part of our expanding Mk4 Focus ST product range, AIRTEC Motorsport are proud to launch our secondary intercooler kit for track or fast road use.
The challenge Due to the limited space available in the upper grille area due to the car’s intake system and ducting, it isn’t possible to fit a full-size front mount intercooler to fill the entire height of the grille. Whilst we do offer an intercooler upgrade that’s deeper (AIRTEC Motorsport Intercooler Upgrade for Focus ST Mk4), we still looked at other ways to improve cooling and reduce charge temperatures without having to cut or modify the car.
The solution Designed and developed at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, our solution was to develop a secondary intercooler that mounts underneath the car behind the undertray and is fed fresh air from a duct. By adding a second intercooler in place of the pipework section, we were able to offer a huge increase in overall capacity to the entire set up without affecting the original (or AIRTEC Motorsport upgraded) intercooler set up.
Despite this huge improvement, the kit fits neatly behind the undertray and can be reverted back to standard with no issues. The comprehensive fitting kit includes Pro Hoses silicone pipes together with all the required fixtures and fittings, as well as step-by-step instructions.
The testing Measuring heat rejection levels and intake temperatures during back-to back testing on the road over eight consecutive runs showed that with the secondar
intercooler in place, heat rejection was improved by 41% whilst charge temps were reduced by half.
Data logging the intercooler outlet temperatures before and after fitting the secondary intercooler revealed a peak decrease measurement of 36.7-degress, which translated to a 76.4% reduction. Further testing revealed the secondary intercooler was able to repeat this kind of improvement, averaging a 72.5% decrease over four back-to-back runs proving the set up works effectively and efficiently.

RETURN/REFUND POLICY
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days of purchase your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
-Returns accepted within 30 days of purchase if the item is unused and in original packaging. -Customer is responsible for return shipping unless the product is defective. -Refunds processed within 5-7 business days after receiving the returned item.
If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Damages and issues Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items We do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
European Union 14 day cooling off period Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too. If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at sales@sbxperformance.com.
