The factory BMW M2 N55 intake is not a sealed design, with a small front opening barely the cross-sectional area of the MAF and a second opening into the engine bay to meet the engine's airflow demands. While reasonable at keeping intake temperatures low, its angular shape, small volume and indirect airflow path leave performance on the table.

Infinity Design instead uses a large cross-sectional turbo inlet tube with an integrated MAF and a smooth, non-concentric expanding profile joined with silicone couplers. The expanding, large-volume inlet acts like a big velocity stack, accelerating airflow far better than the short stack inside the OEM intake. The result is smoother low-rpm torque, vastly improved drivability and immediately sharper throttle response. The inlet attaches via a stainless steel V-band clamp to the air filter housing, which mounts directly to the OEM front air feed.

High-Flow Air Filter

A bespoke short-stack, high-surface-area filter with a 170 mm (6¾") opening sits ahead of the inlet tube to form the largest velocity stack ever seen for the N55. Fully encapsulated within the housing, it rejects the vast majority of hot engine-bay air while the front inlet circulates cool outside air evenly around the filter.

Performance Testing

Dyno tests were performed under strict controlled conditions on a Dyno Dynamics machine. The engine produces more torque initially as the improved inlet flow lets the turbo spool faster; gains then build from 4,900 rpm to redline. These are wheel-horsepower results, with a realistic flywheel estimate of +16–18 hp.
