The RV6 R660AS is the result of almost 2 years of development and 3 revisions — a robust, reliable turbocharger for the FK8 Civic Type R 2.0T. RV6's goal was reliability beyond the limits of the stock TD04 format, which struggles to make more than 400HP dependably. To get there, RV6 over-built and upsized everything, building the R660 around a TD05 bearing housing roughly twice the size of the TD04. That allows a full-size 8mm ceramic ball bearing for quick spool and increased thrust loads, with oversized coolant passages and -10AN coolant lines for ample cooling.

The larger TD05 bearing housing enabled a 0.81 A/R turbine housing that significantly reduces back pressure between the turbo and engine, solving many issues with unstable boost and overheating. Compressor and turbine wheels use FEA-optimized blade designs: a lightweight point-milled forged billet compressor wheel and a MAR-M super-alloy turbine wheel and shaft chosen to tolerate higher temperatures and loads. The carbon fiber inlet pipe requires an RV6 inlet pipe and elbow and is only compatible with the PRL race/big bore MAF housing.
