The RV6 R660AS is the result of almost 2 years of development and 3 revisions — a robust, reliable turbocharger for the FL5 Civic Type R and DE5 Integra Type S 2.0T. RV6's goal was reliability beyond the limits of the stock TD04 format, which struggles to make more than 400HP dependably. To get there, RV6 over-built and upsized everything, building the R660 around a TD05 bearing housing roughly twice the size of the TD04. That allows a full-size 8mm ceramic ball bearing for quick spool and increased thrust loads, with oversized coolant passages and -10AN coolant lines for ample cooling.

The larger TD05 bearing housing enabled a 0.81 A/R turbine housing that significantly reduces back pressure between the turbo and engine, solving many issues with unstable boost and overheating. Compressor and turbine wheels use FEA-optimized blade designs: a lightweight point-milled forged billet compressor wheel and a MAR-M super-alloy turbine wheel and shaft chosen to tolerate higher temperatures and loads. The carbon fiber inlet pipe requires an RV6 inlet pipe and elbow and a race/big bore MAF housing.
